British or American English Editor (freelance position)

Job description

Type of cooperation: long-term, freelance.

Localization: it's remote cooperation. Ideally, you should be located anywhere between (UTC+0) and (UTC+3) timezones. Work hours: you need to be available to accept projects during our office hours (9-17, Mon-Fri).

You will be responsible for:
  • Editing to ensure all texts (primarily for video games) are accurately and stylishly translated into American or British English
  • Collaborating with PMs, editors, and translators
  • Making sure that deadlines are met

Position requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of American and/or British English is a must (grammar, punctuation, common style conventions, etc.);
  • Linguistic degree preferred, but you may also be a last-year student;
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as an editor/proofreader;
  • Knowledge of other English dialects will be an advantage;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel);
  • A friendly attitude 🙂;
  • Proficiency in CAT tools will be an advantage;
  • Passion for games or fantasy/sci-fi literature will be an advantage (use the keyword "Crumpets" in your application).

If your application matches the requirements, we will invite you to the recruitment process. We will ask you additional questions to check whether we are a good fit for each other. The next step is completing a language sample. It's composed of small fragments of various texts, chiefly related to video games, and it has a 24 or 48 hours deadline, depending on your time zone. Our in-house linguist will review the sample, and we will get back to you with the feedback information within two weeks.

If everything goes well, we will sign a freelance cooperation agreement. From this moment our Project Managers will be able to contact you directly with suitable projects.
